STOGNER, Willie - Of Davison, age 79, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 10am Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Steven Cunningham officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 3-7on Wednesday and 9:30am Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Fred was born in Franklinton, Louisiana on December 4, 1936, the son of Monroe and Chinesia Stogner. He came to Flint, Michigan as a teenager and lived in the Flint area for the rest of his life. He went to work for General Motors shortly after his 18th birthday, retiring from there in 1985 after 30 years of service. Fred married Nancy Carolyn Cook on October 12, 1957 and their loving relationship sustained him through good times and bad. Fred loved his family and friends and they will never forget his personal warmth, generosity, sense of humor, and his way with a good story. He loved the outdoors, animals, word puzzles, and bluegrass music. He was an all-purpose handyman and took great pride in seeing the quality work of his hands. Fred was a member of the Bristol Road church of Christ and his relationship with God was particularly important to him in his later years.
Surviving are wife, Nancy;
Children: Brian (Lisa) and Michael.
Grandchildren: Andrea (Corey) and Katie
Great-grandchildren: Caleb and Kylie
Brothers: Clint (Pat), Ray (Diane), and sister-in-law, Donna
Several special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill.
