George A. Cooper
Age 89, of Bancroft, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in his home.
A funeral service will take place at 2 PM on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Nelson-House Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Maple River Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather at the funeral home from 1 PM until the time of service.
Born on June 14, 1935, in Owosso, George was the son of Walter and Minnie (Harmon) Cooper.
He was a man of deep faith, serving his Lord and Savior throughout his life. George was actively involved in his church community and found joy in gardening, woodworking, and cherishing moments with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
George married his sweetheart, Janet Sheldon, on December 11, 1954, in Owosso. She predeceased him in 1999.
For over 33 years, George dedicated his career to General Motors in the Sanitation Department before retiring.
George leaves behind his children, Shawn Cooper, Sherri Cooper, and Sheila Becker; three cherished granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and many other loving family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janet, his daughter, Shelly Graham, and two brothers, along with his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
