THOMAS, CARL IVAN – Of Grand Blanc, age 94, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 in Ocala, Florida.
Visitation will be held 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Assyrian Church of the East, 3112 Lewis Street, Flint, MI, Father Ameer Brikha officiating.
Burial in Assyrian Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Assyrian Church of the East, the Assyrian Cemetery or charity of one’s choice.
Carl was born on September 25, 1928 to Louise and Eshia Thomas in Flint, Michigan.
He graduated from Northern High School in 1946.
On January 27, 1973 he married Janet Richardson and they celebrated 50 years of marriage in January.
Carl was employed as an experimental model maker for AC Spark Plug, retiring in 1988.
Carl was an avid Michigan Wolverine fan. He loved golf and had two hole-in-ones.
Surviving are wife, Janet Thomas;
daughter, Lynne (Rodney) Holderbaum;
sons, Marc (Frances) Richardson and Craig Richardson;
grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Harrell, Stephen (Sarah) Richardson, Christopher (Jennifer) Richardson, Matthew (Danielle) Kotowicz, Katelyn (Jeff) Adkins, Kendi Richardson and Kaydence Richardson;
nephew, Thomas (Rebecca) Frechette and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Carl Thomas, II; sister, Rachel Frechette; his parents, Louise and Eshia Thomas.
