JAMES, Donald “Don” L. – of Lapeer, MI, age 76, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Lynn Kerr officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Sierra Club - Nepessing Group, 8309 Apple Blossom Lane, Flushing, MI 48433, in Don’s memory.
Don was born in Russellville, Arkansas on December 20, 1946, son of the late Jessie and Helen (Gaddis) James. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a sharpshooter from 1970-1972, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. Don married his soulmate, Linda Berker, on July 26, 1991. He retired as a math teacher from Lapeer Community Schools. Don was a talented stained-glass artist and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, and kayaking. He was the best husband and soulmate to Linda. Don will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Don is survived by his wife, Linda Berker; 2 children, Peter James and Sarah James; 3 siblings, Jack James, Jerry James and Marsha Ray; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Helen James.
