DOYLE, Mattie “Marie” - of East Tawas, Michigan, age 84, passed away quietly at home in Knoxville, TN on April 27, 2022. A private graveside service will be conducted with her immediate family and closest family friends in the near future.
Marie was born February 23, 1938, in Holcomb, Missouri to Edward and Mattie Eagan (nee Durbin). In search of a better life, the Eagan’s migrated to Flint, Michigan where Marie attended Bendle High School, graduating in 1956. It was there that she met Aden Doyle, the love of her life and her husband of 64 years. Marie was a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines while residing in Chicago, IL before settling down to raise a family in Flushing and then Davison Michigan. Once their children were raised, Aden and Marie traveled the country in a motor home spending more than two years on the road before settling down in East Tawas, Michigan. She believed in a life of service and spent the later years of her life as a volunteer with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and as a hospice volunteer and was a recipient of the “Hospice Volunteer of the Year” award. She was also very active in the schools with the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) program. Marie earned a master gardening title through Michigan State University and taught gardening classes in East Tawas. Marie was voted Most Athletic in high school, which led to her lifelong love of sports. She was a hockey mom, baseball mom and a ballet mom. She dedicated her life to her family.
She is survived by children, Patrick (Angela) of Seymour, TN, daughter, Diane O’Shea of Maryville, TN, son, Aaron of Carlsbad, CA and son, Daniel (Chantel) of Davison, MI; sister, Sandra Eagan-Hill; grandchildren, Spencer, Meaghan, Ryann, Jacob, Sidney, Shannon, Christian, Brielle and Hudson; very dear friend, Dorothy Shaltry, 100, of East Tawas, Michigan. She was preceded in death by husband, Aden; father, Edward; mother, Mattie; brothers, Robert, Billy Gene, Morris Wayne; sisters, Bernice and Patricia.
