SPENCER, Gary Edwin – Of Burton, age 71, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Pastor Aaron Whitman officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
Visitation 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mr. Spencer will be at the church from 1 p.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
Gary was born in Bay City, Michigan on May 31, 1950, the son of Edwin and Dorothy (Lohr) Spencer.
Gary was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, where he served as an outreach pastor at Lockwood of Davison. He enjoyed smoking meats and was known to his friends as "The Pulled Pork King."
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Vickie;
4 children, Matthew and wife Christy Spencer of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jason and wife Gina Spencer of Wilmington, North Carolina, Roxanne Collins and significant other, Ged Strzynski of Ludington, Michigan, Nicole Brackin of Burton;
13 grandchildren;
6 great-grandchildren;
mother, Dorothy Granger of Flint;
sister, Diane Jaskiewicz of Flint;
brother, Tim and wife Carolyn Spencer of Flint;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Spencer, Jr.; step-father, Lou Granger and granddaughter, Candis.
