Deborah Lynn Cain, age 57, of Midland, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in Midland. Deb was born on April 16, 1966, in Newport, RI, one of two children of Barbara (Pnacek) Rice and the late John Rice.
Deb married Gerald Cain in Midland, MI, on October 5, 2002. They have one daughter who was her greatest joy, Rachael Anne Cain.
Deb attended Bullock Creek High School, graduating in 1984. She continued her education at Northern Michigan University, receiving her bachelor’s degree. After college, she worked for the Wendy's Corporate in Chicago before returning to Midland for work at Dow Corning. Then, finding her true calling and succumbing to her mother’s wishes, Deb became a real estate agent for Mid-land Realtors. She was very active in her community and church, serving on several Saint Brigid of Kildare committees for the church and school. She was also a board member of the Midland Board of Realtors as well as numerous local volunteer organizations.
Deb truly loved people and many will remember her for the hugs she would provide. She had a special place in her heart for animals; there was not an animal she did not love. She was everyone’s mom and treated everyone like family.
Deborah is survived by her husband, Gerald; daughter, Rachael Cain; mother, Barbara Rice; and brother, Matthew (Craig Samuels) Rice. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, including the Cayo, Van Hampler, and Pardel families.
The family would like to give special thanks to Homer Township Volunteer Fire Department, Midland Emergency Medical Services, and Alysha with the MyMichigan Medical Center.
Funeral Liturgy for Deb will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Saint Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church. Father Marc Hopps and Father Matt Gembrowski will officiate, with a funeral luncheon and burial at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery to follow. Family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, July 17, 2023, from 3-7 p.m, at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home. Following the visitation will be a prayer service starting at 7 p.m with Deacon Al, with a time for sharing with family and friends. There will be an additional visitation at the Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider The Bridge or the Midland County Humane Society.
