Paul passed away May 29, 2023. He was born July 29, 1943, in Churchill, TN to parents John and Bertha Ellis. At the age of 16, Paul moved with his family to Genesee, MI where he graduated in 1961 from Genesee High School. In September 1971, Paul married Nancy Reimer and they spent almost 52 years together. Paul retired from General Motors in 2006 after almost 44 years. He was a proud UAW member, serving as a committee man for Local 659 during his time at GM.
Paul was a member of the Masonic Lodge #458 in Swartz Creek, MI. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, always sharing a thumbs up and a smile. In his youth, Paul loved snowmobiling, spending many winters in one of his favorite places, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He was also an active hunter and loved fishing and watching football on Sundays.
Paul is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Adrienne Ellis and her partner Drew; and his son, Eric Ellis and his wife Kelsey. Paul was the proud “papa” to two grandchildren, Arlo and Ridge. He is also survived by his three brothers, William “Clay” (Carol) Ellis, Raymond (Juanita) Ellis, and Robert (Maude) Ellis; and his four sisters, Glenna (Nelson) Porter, Nancy (Junior) Cowan, Roxy (Steve) Trent, and Rita (Jack) Ferguson.
A Celebration of Life will be held a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association for Alzheimer’s research or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
