REIMEL, Norma Jean - Of Durand, age 100, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at The Ridge of Goodrich.
Norma was born in Alpena, Michigan on March 2, 1924, the daughter of the late Albert and Florence Robinette. She married Nelson Reimel in Davison, Michigan on July 18th, 1943. Norma was a lifelong resident of the Durand area and a graduate of Davison High School. She was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand and active member of the Alter Society. Norma was a professional seamstress making custom drapery and upholstery for Mill End and Sears for many years. During the winters, she enjoyed snowmobiling with friends and family at their cabin in Grayling, Michigan. Later in life she enjoyed spending winters in Fort Myers, Florida, with her children and grandchildren. In her spare time, Norma enjoyed china painting, sharing her talent with others teaching classes in her home. Norma also spent countless hours helping her grandchildren and great-grandchildren perfect their euchre game.
Surviving are children Syd, Cheryl (Tom), Chris (Jayne) and Mel (Renae); grandchildren Mike, Jennifer (Bill), Amy (Jimmy), Jodi, Kara (Stephen), Trent (Rhiannon), Abigail (Harrison) and Megan (Jeffrey); great-grandchildren Crystal (Brian), Brendan, Nathan, Naomi, Caroline, Chelsie (Lu), Allison (Connor), Taylor (Collin), Anthony, Joe, Emma, Anthony, Vanya, Noah, Hunter; great-great granddaughter Christine; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson of over 60 years, great-granddaughter Jocelyn, great-great granddaughter Addison and siblings, Don, Albert, Howard and Rena.
The family will receive friends from 4pm-8pm on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Durand. A Rosary will take place at 7pm on Friday at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 700 Columbia Dr., Durand with Father Arockiyasamy Santhiyagu officiating. Visitation will also take place in the atrium of St. Mary’s beginning at 10:00am until the time of the Mass.
