STEWART, Douglas W. – Of Flint, age 82, died Sunday, May 23, 2021 at his residence.
Visitation 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 8 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Visitation 12 p.m. and Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021 at Christ United Methodist Church, 4428 Columbine Avenue, Burton, Pastor Brian Willingham officiating.
Private burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to to the Christ United Methodist Church or All American Hospice.
Douglas was born in Flint, Michigan on May 14, 1939, the son of the late Guy and Sylvia Stewart.
He graduated from Bendle High School and was a lifelong resident of the Flint area.
On July 15, 2015 he married Patricia A. Burch at Christ United Methodist Church.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler. He loved to travel; rebuilt many cars, loved the Tigers and U of M.
Douglas was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Mr. Stewart worked at Fisher Body and owned a cleaning business.
Surviving are wife, Patricia;
4 children, Matthew and wife Jerri, Lora and husband Brian Ayres, Robert, Michael and wife Jessica;
step-daughter, Diana (Michael) Kolasz;
grandchildren, Kacie (Patrick) Chely, Danielle, Ellie, Jack, Lacey, Angelica and Samantha;
step-grandchildren, Candice (Joel), Adam (Sharonda) and Gina (Neil);
great-grandchildren, Jason, Blake, Alex and Thomas;
7 step-great-grandchildren;
2 sisters, Eileen and Barbara;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dortha; parents and sister, Kathleen.
