MALENICH, James William – of Davison, MI, age 84, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024 at The Pines of Burton. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday, April 1, 2024 at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 2333 Elms Road, Flushing, MI 48433; Very Rev. James J. Batcha celebrant. Inurnment, with Military Honors, will be held 2:30 PM Monday, April 1, 2024 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Ronald McDonald House Charities, in James’s memory.

James was born in Flint, MI on November 5, 1939, son of the late George and Josephine (Patyk) Malenich. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January 1958, serving his country with honor and distinction until October 1961. On April 27, 1963, he exchanged vows with his beloved Judy Osontoski in Flint, MI, beginning a journey of enduring love and partnership. After his military service, James embarked on a fulfilling career as a supervisor with General Motors, where his hard work and commitment spanned decades until his retirement in June 1990. James found joy in the simple pleasures of life, relishing moments spent on the water while boating, casting lines for the perfect catch while fishing, and perfecting his swing on the golf course. He possessed a keen eye for discovery, often seen with his metal detector in hand, uncovering treasures both tangible and intangible. Above all, James's heart belonged to his family. His greatest happiness came from being with his beloved wife and best friend, Judy, along with being surrounded by his children and loved ones, sharing laughter, creating memories, and offering unwavering support through life's journey. James will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love. He leaves behind a legacy of service, devotion, and cherished moments that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

James is survived by his loving wife, Judy Malenich; 3 children, Kristina (Tina) Malenich, James (Carol) Malenich II and Matthew (Julie) Malenich; 4 grandsons, Mitchell, Jacob, Cole and Luke; 2 siblings, Ree Herrick and Steven (Pauline) Malenich; 2 sisters-in-law, Betsy Malenich and Sandy Treloar; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Josephine Malenich; brother, Bob Malenich; nephew, Bobby Malenich and brother-in-law, Bob Herrick.
