Dorothy Ann Davis, 93, of Flint Township, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street in Flint, Father Thomas Firestone, officiating. Interment in New Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road in Flint, followed by a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Davis will be at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the Mass.
Dorothy was born on September 20, 1930 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Moran) LeBlanc. She grew up with two siblings, Arlene and Jack. Dorothy graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1948 and continued on to the Hurley School of Nursing. Although she didn't pursue her nursing career, it was at this time in her life that a young intern caught her eye. She married her husband, Dr. Robert Clark Davis, on August 2, 1952. Bob and Dorothy were married for 46 years, until his death in 1998. They raised seven children, Mark, Cathy, Bill, John, Mary, Tom, and Bob and were blessed by twelve grandchildren. She was awaiting the arrival of her first great-grandchild in the next few weeks.
Dorothy was a charter member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Flint, and was a dedicated member throughout her life. She served as one of many Handmaids of the Altar at the church and volunteered at many additional events at the parish school and church. In addition to her faith, family and friends were important to her. She and Bob had a wonderful family life in the Mott Park neighborhood, making numerous lifelong friends. Many will remember good times in the family pool on Thomas Street, as well as the generosity and hospitality of both of them. She later moved to Flint Township where she also had a circle of friends that provided her with companionship in her later years. She never failed to keep up with all of the events, travel, and interests of her children and grandchildren. Dorothy also had many special friends throughout the years who shared laughs and good times and whose friendships and families she cherished. She had a home in Delray Beach, FL where she wintered for many years and spent time with her family in Florida. Dorothy was a member of The Flint Golf Club and The Genesee County Medical Society Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid University of Michigan sports fan, tailgating and attending games in her earlier years, and watching each and every game on television in her later years.
Dorothy is survived by Mark Davis of Las Vegas, NV; Cathy McNellen of Delray Beach FL, and her children, Anna and husband Evan Webb, and Andrew McNellen; William Davis of Flushing, MI; John and wife Deborah Davis of Swartz Creek, MI and their children, Alison Davis and Kristin Davis; Thomas and wife Jaynie Davis of Fenton, and their children, John and wife Shelby Davis, Maria and husband Frank Vergos, Christine Davis and Annie Davis; Robert and wife Sandi Davis of Williamston, MI and their children, Zachary Davis, Victoria Davis, and Drew Davis; and granddaughter Lauren Browning and fiance’ Trey Jenkins. In addition, she leaves behind her sister-in-law, Beverly LeBlanc and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert C, Davis; daughter, Mary Browning; parents Edward and Anna LeBlanc; sister Arlene Burgett and husband Bill Burgett; brother Jack LeBlanc; and son-in-law Greg McNellen.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a memorial contribution to St. John Vianney Catholic Church, McLaren Hospice, or to the charity of choice.
