ZAYAC, JAMES E. “JIM” - Of Fenton, age 85, died Friday, December 27, 2024 at McLaren-Flint, surrounded by his family.

Visitation 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the Historic Chapel of the Holy Innocents at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 North Adelaide Street, Fenton, Father Robert Copeland officiating. Livestream Link below:

Interment in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

James was born in Flint, Michigan on May 25, 1939, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Mikus) Zayac.
On September 10, 1960 he married Joy Maier in Flint. They met when they were 17 and 15 and it was love at first sight.

He was a former longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Jim enjoyed meeting his coffee group guys at Panera in Fenton every day.
Jim retired as General Supervisor from GM after 35 years of service.

Jim was a very helpful gentleman who was generous with his time and could fix anything. He loved his children and also enjoyed snowmobiling.

Surviving are beloved wife, Joy;

children, James and wife Michelle Zayac, John Zayac, Jerrold Zayac and Jill Pytosh;

grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Sophia, Amelia, Matthew, Mark and Piper-Joy;

sisters, Delores Cox, Betty and husband Bill Holloway;

sister-in-law, Jan Zayac;

many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Hillock and beloved twin brother, Joseph Zayac, who passed away 8 years ago on Christmas day.
