WILLIAMS, Duane L. - Of Flint, age 89, died Friday, February 17, 2023 at Hurley Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held 11am Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Reverend Ronald Wilson officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sloan Museum.
Visitation 4-8pm Sunday and 10:30 am Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Duane was born in Flint, Michigan on September 28, 1933, the son of the late William D. and Dorothy (Harris) Williams. In the summer of 1964, he married Eunice S. Miller in New York. In high school Duane ran track and high jump and graduated from Flint Central High School. After graduation he entered the Army and was stationed in Germany. When Duane completed his military service, he went to work for General Motors, retiring in 1987. Duane was very talented and helped innovate General Motors, earning accolades for his cost saving work. He was also musical playing the jazz bass as well as artistic by restoring cars and gas pumps. Duane dedicated 30 years of his life to Sloan Museum volunteering to restore cars for them. He was also very meticulous with everything from cars to his yard.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years Eunice;
daughter, Tracey Boggs;
grandson, Gregory (Maribeth) Boggs II;
great-grandchildren, Mason, Carson, Dominic, Peyton, and Caden;
brother, Billy Williams of Flint;
sisters-in-law, Colleen Lyons and Shirley Williams, both of Flint;
brother-in-law, Albert Williams of Columbus, MS;
aunt, Peggy Brady of Flint;
nephew and nieces, Jim Osborne and Cassandra Burks and Marilyn Sams;
many friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leneice, sons, Stanley and Terrence, brothers, Leon, Dale, Howard, Ronald and sisters, Christine and Ruth Jean, mother, Dorothy, father, William; in-laws, Wilda and Ben Anthony.
