Nicolo "Nick" Palmeri, of Flushing, Michigan, age 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2022.
Nicolo was born in Palermo, Sicily on July 19, 1942 to Girolamo and Elena (Granceri) Palmeri. In 1968, Nick immigrated to the United States, where he became a proud US citizen. In 1984, he fulfilled a lifelong dream, opening Palmeri Body Works in Flushing, where he could enjoy his passion for cars and helping others. He was a long time member of the Sons of Italy and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed singing, dancing, golf, and bocce ball. Nick enjoyed life and found the most joy spending time with his family. He was happiest when his house was filled with music, the aroma of his wife’s Italian cooking and the laughter from his grandchildren.
Nicolo is survived by his wife Carmelina Adamo, son James Palmeri, sister Francesca Dagostino (Frank), brothers Antonio Palmeri (Eileene), Salvatore Palmeri, and Vincenzo Palmeri (Sue), step daughters Bianca Adamo-Leece and Carmen Wright (Matt), grandchildren Patrick and Vincent Palmeri, Emma and Ava Wright, and Jeffrey and Giovanna Leece and many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Girolamo and Elena, wife Loretta (Lori) Palmeri, Concetta Smeraldo, and Emanuele Palmeri.
Nick’s family is very grateful and would like to thank the wonderful staff at Living Joy Assisted Living Facility as well as his Hospice team who were so gracious and attentive with his care.
Funeral Mass for Nick will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2022, at St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, January 8 at Rossell Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. Rosary, and 10 a.m. Monday at the church until the time of the Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. |
