Ellingson, Chester Richard of Flushing, age 93, died Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Ascension-Genesys. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
Chester was born in Calumet, Michigan on February 14, 1929, the son of Maynard “Doc” and Mary Jane (Barnes) Ellingson. He married Yvonne Perkins on September 5, 1971. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2015. Chester was employed by General Motors at Chevy in the Hole as a Tool and Die Maker for over 40 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Together with his wife, they enjoyed dancing and traveling. She said there was never a day that he didn’t make her laugh and that he was the kindest man she ever knew. Chester was an avid sports fan, especially the Detroit Tigers and anything U of M. He enjoyed bowling, instant lottery tickets and visiting casinos.
Chester is survived by his children, Kelly Burris, Chester (Sandra) Ellingson, Jr., Kathleen Sheetz, Laurie Pettengill, Joleen Sheetz; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Sheetz.
