SAUNDERS, Thomas Charles – of Lapeer, MI, age 83, passed away Friday, September 16, 2022. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 12 PM Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-12 PM Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home.
Tom was born in Flint, MI on February 11, 1939, son of the late Hargus John and Lester “Sandy” D.D. (Neal) Saunders. He was a graduate of Flint Northern High School Class of 1957. Tom married Elizabeth “Betty” Connors on January 3, 1966 in Mount Morris, MI. He retired from General Motors in 1999 after 25 years of service. Prior to working for General Motors, he was a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for 10 years. Tom enjoyed bowling, playing Fantasy Football, Cribbage and shuffleboard.
Tom is survived by his wife, Betty Saunders; 5 children, Tom (Lauri) Saunders, Ron (Candy) Saunders, Shelly (Brian) Mattson, Damon (Lori) Saunders and Lisa (Charlie) Cappaert; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Gayle (Steve) Oginski; sister-in-law, Gretchen Saunders; unofficial son, Big O.; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hargus John and Lester “Sandy” D.D. Saunders; 2 brothers, Kenneth Saunders and Gary Saunders.
