Blood, Joseph Carl of Flushing, age 86, died Friday, November 29, 2024, at his home. A memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Brian Lenz will officiate. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Heart-to-Heart Hospice.
Joseph was born in Three Rivers, Michigan on December 8, 1937, the son of Noel and Elaine (Denofre) Blood. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He married Roberta Smith on November 15, 1996. Joseph was employed for 42 years at General Motors, with many of his years at Buick Engineering. Joseph was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church and also attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
He loved warm weather, and together with his wife, he enjoyed sailing the Great Lakes and enjoyed spending winters in Venice, Florida. He enjoyed times fishing with his brothers and woodcarving with friends in both Florida and Michigan.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Roberta; children, Joseph (Sue) Blood, II, Michael Blood, Lisa Blood; granddaughter, Rachel Blood; siblings, Stanley Blood, James (Beth) Blood, Vincent (Theresa) Blood; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Maria Kathleen; sisters, Mary Brady, Peggy Shedd, Rita Sadowski; and brother, Charles Blood.
