EWING, Dr. Joseph Dawson– of Davison, MI, age 85, passed away on May 17, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Richfield Church of the Nazarene, 7524 E Mount Morris Rd, Otisville, MI 48463; Pastor Alan Duce officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Hills. The family will receive visitors at 9:30 AM Saturday, May 21 until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Flint Male Chorus, CRU “Campus Crusade for Christ” or the Flint Eastside Mission, in Joe’s memory.
Joe was born in Lexington, Nebraska on May 15, 1937, son of the late Everett and Hollis (Dawson) Ewing. He married Barbara Bacon on March 8, 1968, in Flint, MI. Joe received his dental degree from the University of Michigan in 1966. He practiced in the Flint/Burton area for 45 years. Joe had a love for music, playing the flute and piccolo. He played for the Flint Concert Band, Detroit Flute Symphony, Mott College Band, U of M Flint Band, Flint Central Church of the Nazarene Orchestra and the Richfield Church of the Nazarene. Joe sang with the Flint Male Chorus for many years.
He also had a love for horses and rode with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Posse. Joe taught Sunday School for many years at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene and was also a board member of the Flint Eastside Mission. Joe was passionate about his love for God and his family. He loved his patients and helping those in need.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara; 5 children, Cary Ewing, Timothy Ewing, Joseph P. (Barbara) Ewing, Shannon (Greg) Stimson, Holly Ewing; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Hollis Ewing; brothers, Jack (Arlene) Ewing and Jim (Leola) Ewing; son, Eric (Heike) Ewing and grandson, Adam Ewing.
