TATE, Harold D. – Of Flint, age 96, died Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Brookdale Memory Care.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Chaplain Patty Jarvis officiating. Family requests that masks be worn.
Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Christ United Methodist Church.
Visitation 11 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Harold was born in on July 15, 1925 in LeRoy, Michigan.
He was an aviation ordinance man in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Saginaw Bay during World War II. After the war he married his high school sweetheart, Maxine Simonton.
They moved to Flint where he became a journeyman tool and die hardener at Chevrolet. He retired from Chevrolet after 40 years on January 1, 1987.
Harold was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he taught the adult Sunday School class for many years.
He was a volunteer fireman for Mundy Township for many years and lifetime member of the Masons.
Harold was a much beloved husband, father and grandfather cherished by all of his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine.
He is survived by children, Dennis (Vicki)Tate and Anne (Dale) Edwards;
grandchildren, Sky (Sally) Tate, Faithann Tate, Colleen (Curt) Ehlers, Emily (Doug) Lipp, Lisa (Matt) Donaldson and Jack Edwards;
ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters and sister, Carol Bowman.
