FORREST, George E. – of Flushing, age 77, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at his home with family by his side. Honoring his wishes, cremation will be taking place. A Celebration of George’s Life will be held at 2PM Saturday, March 18, 2023, at West Vienna United Methodist Church – 5485 W. Wilson Rd., in Clio. Rev. Carol Freeland officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 1PM until the time of celebration at 2PM.

George was born May 7, 1945, in Davison, Michigan, to the late Gordon and Martha Mae (Shaw) Forrest and was the youngest of 8 children. He graduated from Almont High School in 1963. George married Barbara Joan Wright on December 18, 1965. Mr. Forrest is a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from General Motors – Buick in 2010, at the age of 65, with 46 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #599. George was also a member of the Flushing Moose Lodge #1437, American Legion Harry Baker Post #367 of Montrose, and attended West Vienna United Methodist Church in Clio with his wife, Barb. He enjoyed traveling – especially to North Carolina and St. Augustine, Florida, and going for a nice drive. George loved going out for breakfast and was well known in Flushing for always tipping with gold coins. He loved to socialize with everyone and never met a stranger. Above all, he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving are: Loving wife, Barbara Forrest; Children: JoyDawn (Donald) Hardman, Michael Forrest, Jeremy (Heather) Forrest, and Becky Jo Forrest; Grandchildren: Bronwyn Rowley, Dylan (Katharine) Rowley, Duncan (Kelli) Rowley, Paxton (Brock) Rowley-Wildey, Abriel (Truman) Spittel, Auburn Forrest, Faith Michael Forrest, Nikole Forrest, Taylor (Harry) Santti, Nicholas (Katie) Forrest, Makena Kessler, and Brayden Kessler; Great grandchildren: Ava Grace Rowley, William Rowley, Maeve Rowley, Emma Santti, and Theodore Santti; Best friend, Jerry Howard; Many other loving family members, and dear friends.
