KORHONEN, VIOLET – Of Flint, age 82, died Wednesday, April 3, 2024
at Ascension Genesys Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral service will be held at Noon Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the funeral home.
Violet was born in Flint, Michigan on February 5, 1942, the daughter of the late Marie (Larry) and Arthur Kennedy.
On July 4, 1965 she married Paul Korhonen in Flint.
After raising her four children, supporting them in their activities, Vi occupied her time working many service jobs, including the IMA Sports arena and many area golf courses. Vi also enjoyed attending sporting events for her many grandkids and those of her good friends. Whether on an extended bus trip or simply lunch in the park, Vi especially enjoyed being with “the girls”.
Surviving are children, Kevin, Charmaine, Eric and Heather (Tyrone);
grandchildren, Chardae, Colton, Casey, Selena, Olivia, Connor, Gibson, Cooper, Jillian and Calvin;
great-grandchildren, Romeo, Marianna and Maisie;
brother, Walter (Steffie) Morris;
very special friends, Goldie Guerra and Sandy Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Larry Morris; husband, Paul Korhonen and sister, Lucy Lee Kennedy and daughter-in-law, Marlo Korhonen.
