Arthur F. Wynn, age 79, of Lapeer, Michigan, passed away on April 2, 2026.

Art was born on August 28, 1946, to Nathan and Glendora Wynn of Turner, Michigan. Shortly after graduating from Whittemore-Prescott High School, where he lettered in basketball and track, Art moved to Flint and was hired by General Motors. He was drafted into the Army in 1966. Upon being honorably discharged, he returned to his job at the Chevrolet V8 plant, retiring after 34 years.

Art married Karen Anne Smith on May 27, 1966, six months after their first date, and it was clear to anyone who knew them that he adored her. Their 60-year union was a testament to family, friendship, and faith. Together they raised two daughters and built a life centered on connection and generosity. Art made friends everywhere he went, and their home was rarely quiet—there was always room at the table for one more and no shortage of laughter. Whether helping someone repair a car, offering practical advice, or simply showing up when he was needed, Art’s friendships were rooted in kindness and action. He loved taking his family “Up North,” especially on their annual two-week Michigan camping adventures. A committed Christian, he and Karen were longtime members of Calvary United Methodist Church in Flint before joining The Dwelling. They hosted neighborhood Bible studies, supported numerous ministries, and lived their faith in the way they cared for others.

Art found greatest joy in pursuits that brought him close to nature and to others. He was an avid fisherman—especially for bass—and took great pride in the many tournaments he won over the years. He also loved hunting, embracing the quiet patience and tradition it required. At home, Art could often be found tending to his yard, taking pride in the beauty he created there. He never passed up a good yard sale, always on the lookout for a good find or a good story. Above all, Art loved children. He was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather who delighted in time spent with his family. His generous spirit extended beyond his own circle through his proud support of Operation Smile, helping provide life-changing surgeries for children with cleft palates.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, his wife’s parents, and his sister-in-law, Linda Butterfield.

He is survived by his wife Karen; his daughters, Sherry (Don) Wynn Perdue and Veronica (David) Traugott; five grandchildren, Alexondra Wynn, Katherine Traugott, Nicholas Traugott, Derek (Linda) Perdue, and Travis (Alisha) Perdue; two great-grandchildren, Roczen Perdue and Rome Perdue; his siblings, Gloria Wynn, Rose Marie (John) Allen, and Robert (Carol) Wynn; his wife’s family, Ronald Smith, Patricia (Jack) Cheek, and James Butterfield; his dearest friends, Dennis and Polly Yorke; and Pike, a spunky Standard Poodle who will forever miss waiting at his feet for a treat.
