UNDERWOOD, Madalyn A.– Of Flint, age 97, died Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street, Flint, Father Anthony Strouse officiating.
Burial in Old Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Underwood will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.
Madalyn was born in Flint, Michigan on September 11, 1925, the daughter of the late Fredrick and Margaret Standal and was a resident of Flint.
On April 4, 1951 she married the late Donald L. underwood at St. Matthew Catholic Church, where she remained a lifelong active member.
She also attended St. Matthew Catholic School from where she graduated. Madalyn will always be remembered for being a huge supporter of Michigan State University Football and Basketball. As well, she enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers.
Mrs. Underwood was well known to have a good joke and a quick wit. She was loved by many friends and acquaintances.
Madalyn is preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Underwood; brother and sister-in-law, Robert W. Standal Sr. and Margaret C. Standal.
Surviving are nephews and nieces, Robert W. (Deborah) Standal Jr., Thomas P. (Maria) Standal, James E. (Lisa) Standal, Mary Lisa (Mark) Joslyn, Ann Marie Okros and many loving great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
