TAYLOR, Mr. David, Sr. - Age 82, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 at his residence. Family hour 10a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton Ave., Flint, MI, with funeral service at 11a.m. Rev. Dr. Mark A. Jones, Sr. officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10a.m. Saturday. Mr. Taylor now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., Flint, MI, and may be viewed from 1p.m.-8p.m. today.
Mr. David Taylor, Sr. was born on March 4, 1931 in Greensboro, Alabama, to the late Alexander and Mary Taylor. He was the youngest of two sons. David confessed a belief in Christ at an early age. After relocating to Flint, he actively served in ministries as an Usher and Trustee at the Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church for many years where he was a faithful and dedicated member before joining South Flint Tabernacle Church. On March 26, 1955, David united in Holy Matrimony to Sarah Ann Smith. She preceded her husband in death in 2000. To this union five children were born and survive: David (Brenda) Taylor Jr. of Grand Blanc, MI, Sandra (Stanley) Collins of Merrillville, IN, Dazarine Taylor of Grand Blanc, MI, Sherman (Phyllis) Taylor of Farmington Hills, MI, and Thurman (Margaret) Taylor, Grand Rapids, MI. David had a great love for his family and children. He looked forward to their visits and the family gatherings for dinner and special celebrations. David was employed by Chevrolet Manufacturing, a division of General Motors from 1952 and labored for 38 years. He served in many capacities including supervisor when he retired in 1990. On January 25, 2014 at 12:31 P.M. David was called home peacefully to rest.
He also leaves to cherish his memories: devoted and loving wife of five years, Brenda Kay; daughters, Mary Hoskins of Chicago, IL, Aquintia Cooper, Genetrice (Eluterio) Gonzalez, Grand Blanc, MI and Hillary Mullins, Cambria Heights, NY; brother, James Taylor, Bessemer, AL; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law including, James Smith of Flushing, MI; 2 aunts; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center 5E and 9E Staff, DaVita Ballenger Pointe Staff, Loving Hands Agency, A-1 Hospice Agency, and dear friend, Dr. Basim Towfig for the excellent extended care of our loved one.
