BERGERON, Matthew Joseph – Of Flint Township, age 66, passed away peacefully at his home on September 11, 2026. Per Matthew’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at 10am on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. A Celebration of Life service will be at 11:30am on Wednesday at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Deacon Ron Kenney will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, 1169 Oak Valley Dr, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.
Matthew was born in Flint, Michigan on April 12, 1960, the son of Norbert and Eleanor Bergeron. He graduated from Flint Southwestern. Matt understood the value of hard work, commitment, and loyalty. He began working for Scrub-a-Dub in 1977 and remained with the company for more than four decades. After 43 years of dedicated service, Matt retired in 2020. His remarkable commitment to one company throughout his career was a reflection
of his strong work ethic and loyalty. Matt was also a man who enjoyed the things that brought him simple happiness throughout his life. He had a passion for bowling where he bowled several 300
games over his lifetime. He also had a love for vintage cars, especially his 1972 Impala convertible, 1972 Monte Carlo and 1979 Trans Am. But what Matt loved the most was family, especially those who truly called him Dad or
Uncle.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert Bergeron and Eleanor (McDonald) Bergeron, and his brother, Christopher Bergeron. He is survived by his sister, Rebecca Schott (Jerry); his brother, William Bergeron; his sister, Renee Lozen (Mark); his son, Justin Morgan and Taylor, who held a special place in Matt’s heart; and his former wife, Christine (Morgan) Bergeron. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended
family, and friends who will remember him and miss him dearly.
Though he is no longer with us, the memories of Matt and the impact he had on the lives of those around him will remain. Rest peacefully, Matt. You are free!
