SHIMMEL, Glen Lindsay – Of Flint, age 41, died Sunday, December 18, 2022.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Brian Oswald and Chaplain Goodie Cox co-officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
Those desiring may make a contributions to Trust Fund for Bradley.
Visitation 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 and 1 p.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Glen was born in Pontiac, Michigan on January 24, 1981, the son of Robert and Tamara Shimmel.
On June 18, 2005 he married Amanda in Flint.
He was a member of UAW Local #598, NRA, Committeeman, Safety and an avid outdoorsman. Glen loved fishing and spending time with his family.
Glen was a dedicated father, who loved his son more than anything.
Glen was an amazing man, father, husband and son, who would do anything for those he loved, especially his family. They were his life, and his priority. If anyone needed a helping hand he was there no questions asked.
He had a crude sense of humor and was very sarcastic; but if you were in the elite he would break his back for you.
Glen worked in sanitation at Flint Assembly for 14 years, served as Committeeman and Safety Chairman.
Surviving are wife, Amanda;
son, Bradley “Goose”;
daughter (niece-child), Katlyn Brewer (Trent Anderson);
granddaughter, Maeva;
mother, Tamara Shimmel (Adolph);
father, Robert Shimmel;
brother and sister-in-law, Joe Brewer and Michelle Blalock and Katie Darling;
sister, Regina Hans and Angela Shimmel;
nieces, Chloe and
many nieces, nephews,
uncles and aunts, Denise Clark, Edward Clark and Stephen Clark;
Lori Montgomery;
cousin, Melissa;
brother-in-law, Jeffory Brewer, Ethan Brewer and Desiree Hess;
mother-in-law, Sharon Brewer;
father-in-law, Billy Brewer;
many cousins, loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by Grandma and Grandpa, Jenkins; Grandpa and Grandma Shimmel; Grandpa and Grandma Clark; Grandpa and Grandma McCall and Grandma Choate.
