THAYER, David “Mike” – of Clio, age 79, died Friday, May 23, 2025, at Brookdale of Bay City surrounded by the love of his family. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio with full military honors. Pastor Wally Rose officiating. Private burial in Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 2PM until 8PM and Thursday from 10AM until the time of service.
Mike was born November 17, 1945, in Flint, to the late William and Evalyne (McPeake) Thayer. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired from Buick in 1994 after 40 years of employment. During Mike's marriage to Nelba Adams, they raised three daughters, Toni, Jamie, and Mikal Ann. Mike was hard working and always busy with one project or another. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing or working in the garage fixing cars. Mike was the owner and operator of Papa's Vending, ran a lawn care business, and plowed snow for many years. If there was a side hustle job to be had, he was there. Mike was someone always willing to help others any way he could. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Mike was a wonderful man who can never be replaced, and he will be truly missed. The family would like to thank the hospice nurse, Nancy, and the caring staff at Brookdale that cared for Mike like family during his time with them.
Mike is forever remembered by: Daughters: Toni (Dan) Lorenz and Mikal Ann (James) Wilson; Grandchildren: Collin, Mackenzi, Lyndsi, Jodi, James, and Jenalee; 8 Great Grandchildren; Many other loving family members and friends. Mike was preceded in death by: Daughter, Jamie Fisher; Parents, William and Evalyne. |
