SKELLETT, Yvonne C. – of Clio, age 87, died peacefully on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Ascension Genesys of Grand Blanc. The family will receive visitors at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 10AM until 1PM. Private burial in Flint Memorial Park. Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people are allowed in our chapel at one time and masks are required.
Yvonne Skellett, born March 25, 1934 in Buckley, Michigan to the late Joseph and Crystal (Pahl) Stein. She graduated from Buckley High School in 1952. Yvonne married Walter F. Skellett on December 11, 1954. The family resided in Flint until moving to Clio in 1974. She worked at Michigan Bell for several years as an operator and Kmart in the Small Appliance department. For 17 years, Yvonne and Walt were caretakers of Elf Khurafeh Shriners Center Clio Properties. She loved to decorate for weddings and parties that were hosted at the Shriner’s Temple where she displayed her many talents. Yvonne was a member of El Said Court Ladies Shrine where she enjoyed clowning around as Clarabell, as well as performing during Ice Cream Socials with her fellow ladies. As a volunteer with the Lady Shrine, she participated in several events. Yvonne set up many trips for the Shriner groups where she enjoyed traveling with them and hosting the events. She loved to dance, Polkas and Western themes, She could cut a rug. Yvonne loved to go bowling and was in many Bowling Leagues. Yvonne’s talents did not stop there when she pulled out her favorite instrument, the Accordion (good old fashion squeezebox) and whipped out some Polkas and with any band out there. She ended her working days as a lunch lady for the Clio schools before retiring. Yvonne loved kids. She enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting. Yvonne also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and family.
Surviving are: Children: Danny (Karen) Skellett, Eddie Skellett, and Cindy (Skellett) Hollister; Grandchildren: Amy, Nicole, Crystal, James, Logan, and Braydan; Great grandchildren: Mark Jr., Zackary, Gabriela, Nickolas, Patrick (Melissa), Charlie, and William; 2 great-great grandchildren, Peyton and Luka; Sister, Wanda Rushton. Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Walter on February 2, 2009 and her son Larry Skellett on November 26, 2014.
