Bammel, Phillip Charles of East Tawas, Michigan, age 86 years, died February 04, 2021.
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Phillip Charles Bammel on February 04, 2021 after a difficult medical journey. Phillip passed peacefully at The Horizon Senior Living IV center in Standish, Michigan, where he was currently residing. Phillip was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Kathleen S. Bammel of East Tawas, his four children, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews: son, Brian Bammel and wife Sandra of East Tawas, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Trevor and Jennifer Bammel with daughter Lily of Dexter, Kelsey (Bammel) and Alan Krueger with sons Theodore and Grayson of Clarkston, and Sydney Bammel and fiancée Samuel Cubba of Rochester Hills, son Craig Bammel of East Tawas , son Keith Bammel and wife Nicole of St. Clair Shores and daughter Tamie Bammel of Alpena. Phillip is also survived by his brother Tom Bammel and wife Myra of Miramar, Florida and was preceded in death by his half-brother John Henderson and is survived by his sister-in-law Sharon Henderson of Warren.
Phillip was born January 14, 1935, to Frank M. and Dorothea M.(Zink) Bammel in Bay City, MI. He grew up in Durand, MI and graduated from Durand High School. Phillip studied Mechanical Engineering at General Motors Institute of Technology and earned his degree in 1959. Phillip married Kathleen S. Smith on August 8th, 1959 and they recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. Phillip had a 34 year career working for General Motors Technical Center, Fisher Body and CPC, Warren, MI. After retirement, Phillip and Kathleen moved North to Hale and eventually settled in East Tawas. Phillip especially enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends as well as traveling with his wife Kathy. Phillip also loved square dancing with his wife Kathy and their friends in the local square dancing club. Phillip and Kathleen were active members of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tawas.
Phillip will be laid to rest at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Tawas, Michigan when the cemetery opens in the spring. The family will hold a private funeral service for Phillip. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Phillip’s name to Heartland Hospice of West Branch, 564 Progress Street, West Branch, MI 48661 or a charity of their choice. |
