Benedetta “Betty” Bontumasi, 86, of Clio, completed her flight through this life on March 31, 2023, and landed safely in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born in Detroit on a brisk Friday, February 19th, 1937, the youngest child of the late Giuseppe and Mary Vultaggio, and was raised there. On October 8, 1954, she married Salvatore “Sam” Bontumasi and the couple moved to the Flint area. Their union produced two children: Rozanna (Gaspare) Pavia of Flushing and Frank (Sharlene) of Midland. In addition, they were blessed with six grandchildren: Frank Bontumasi Jr. of Bay City, Rebecca (Justin) Broome of Whitmore Lake, Jonathan Bontumasi of Bay City, Joshua Bontumasi of Detroit, Jessica Ann (Mark) Gazimek of Shields, and Lisa Pavia (Michael Krauss) of Grand Rapids. Their family has expanded with six great-grandchildren as well: Alex, Chaz, Isaac & Vincent Bontumasi of Auburn Michigan and Gary & Gavin Gazimek of Shields (number seven, little girl “Broome” is due in August.)
Betty was a strong, outspoken woman who held firmly to her Christian beliefs and was not afraid to defend them and certainly would not apologize for them.
She was well-loved, and accumulated many, many friends over the years, most of whom, along with her husband, have sadly passed before her.
She is survived by not only her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, but also by many nieces, nephews, her special cousin Judy Hojnacki, as well her neighbors at Roxbury. She was predeceased by not only her parents, husband & many friends and both brothers, two nephews and a second husband, Sam Russo, as well. Only God Himself can heal the hurt her loss has caused. |
