Of Flint, made her way peacefully home to meet her Savior on October 4, 2023, at the age of 76 years, while residing with her son's family in Wyoming, MI.
Darlene was born in Flint, Michigan on November 15, 1946, the daughter of the late William Garth and Dorothy Leona Johnson. She graduated from Bendle High School. On June 27, 1964, she married Larry David Carlson. After her children graduated from high school, she worked for Helping Hands as a Caregiver serving many clients over the course of 10 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was an active member of Twin Cities Baptist Church for nearly 70 years. Over many years, she was devoted to serving on the bus route, kitchen, nursery, and Vacation Bible School (VBS) ministries. Many times, she was viewed as a personal prayer warrior and sent cards to those who were ill or needed encouragement. She was an incredible example of what it was to be a woman of Faith, a Prayer Warrior, and a Proverbs 31 Woman. She truly loved Jesus and her church family.
Surviving are:
2 sons, Larry Jr. (Wilma Jo) and Loren (Tréva);
4 grandchildren, Jeramy, Gary, Cameron and Markus Carlson;
Sister-in-law, Linda Lee Johnson (William) and niece, Kellie Lee Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Garth Johnson; her mother, Dorothy Leona Johnson; her two brothers, Ronald Wayne Johnson and William Glen Johnson; her sister, Kathleen Anne Johnson; and her husband, Larry David Carlson.
Visitation is Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 11 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 1 pm at Twin Cities Baptist Church at 5339 South Saginaw Road, Grand Blanc, MI. Pastor Mike Cheng will be officiating the service.
Burial service is immediately following the funeral service at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery at 9506 N. Dort Highway, Mount Morris, MI. Twin Cities Baptist Church will provide a dinner in celebration of her life and honor immediately following the burial service.
