DOSH, Loretta Marie – of Mt. Morris, age 99, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 at her residence. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11AM Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Calvary Presbyterian Church, 6100 Richfield Road, Flint MI 48506, Rev. Pete Scribner officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, in Loretta’s memory. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Medical Team Hospice for their loving and gentle care.
Marie was born in Pontiac, MI on March 11, 1923, daughter of the late Frederick and Loretta (Reigle) Burt. She was raised in Atlas, MI and Davison, MI, where she was salutatorian of her high school class. Marie married Richard Dosh in 1941 and started her family in Elba, MI, where she was involved in fundraising for several years for March of Dimes, which helped fund polio research. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts during the 1950’s.
After moving to the Flint area in 1959, Marie was the founding leader for a Girl Scout troop in the Kearsley area. She was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church since 1961. There, she was a Women’s Fellowship chair and initiated provision of that group gaining a seat with the elders. Marie served two terms as a deacon and two terms as an elder. She sang in the church choir for about 20 years.
Marie loved cooking (especially for family gatherings), sewing and home decorating. She was an accomplished gardener, creating beautiful gardens wherever she lived. In her later years, Marie loved to work on word puzzles whenever she could. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Marie is survived by her children, Jerald (Joanne) Dosh, Janet (Charles) Rickard, Jim (Judy) Dosh, Jeff (Rose) Dosh, John (Linda) Dosh and Joanne (Steven) Gubancsik; 22 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Loren Burt, Mike (Gay) Burt; sisters-in-law, Lynnda Burt and Helen Burt, and many other loving family members and friends. In addition to her parents and her loving husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.
