Joseph L. Lussier, of Flushing, Michigan, age 73, passed away August 13, 2023, at his home. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Prabhu Lakra will officiate. Burial to follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Friday at church until the time of the Mass. If desired, contributions may be made in his memory to the Flushing Senior Center.
Joe was born in Flint, Michigan on February 10, 1950, to Theodore and Jeanne Lussier. He graduated from Flint Northwestern High School in 1969 and began his 50+ year career in the grocery business, working at Hamady, Kessels, and Kroger throughout that time. Joe enjoyed sports, he was a loyal Detroit Tigers baseball fan and loved to support all Flushing High School athletic teams. He was a proud member of the Flushing Senior Center and liked attending the Flushing concerts in the park. He loved to travel, but also loved his Sunday skillet at Kathy’s downtown. He was an avid reader and history buff who could impressively recall facts, dates, and statistics on a variety of topics, and always remembered everyone’s birthday. Joe played pool competitively and in travel leagues.
He is survived by his sisters, Denise Dale of Fenton, Michelle (Tim) VanBuskirk of Flint; brother-in-law, Rick Murray of Flushing; nieces and nephews, Angie (Matt) Gerhardt of Pittsburgh, PA, Jenni Dale of Linden, Rick (Jennie) Murray of Canton, Ryan (Julie) Murray of Howell, Jackie (Jeremy) Juhl of Fenton, Elise (Ryan) Sokoloski of South Lyon, Mark Dale of Fenton, Lauren (Kenny) McCloud of Vinemount, Alabama, and Dan Dale of Fenton. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Lussier; mother, Jeanne Lussier; and sister, Suzanne Murray.
