MARTINEZ, PETRA – Of Flint, age 77, died Friday, October 6, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Deacon Omar Odette officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Petra was born in Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, Tamaulipas, Mexico on September 12, 1946, the daughter of Antonio Garcia Paramo and Maria Aguilera Zavala.
On May 13, 1973 she married Alfredo Martinez in Mission, Texas.
Petra attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She loved cooking flour tortillas and beans from scratch for her family, gardening and tending to her flowers.
She loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and siblings.
Petra was the ultimate caregiver for her family.
Petra retired from Vlasic Pickles after many years of service.
Surviving are children, Maria Delcid,
Anette (Matthew) Grubb,
Alfredo Martinez Jr.,
Jesus (Elaina) Martinez and Diana (Brett) Martin;
grandchildren, Victoria, Alicia, Adrianna, Antonio, Maribel and Santos Martinez, Dominick and Adrian Grubb, Margarita, Jesus Jr., Sofia and Jose Alfredo Martinez, Emilio and Juliana Martin;
great-grandchildren, Naveah, Natalie, Alannah and Malia;
siblings, Josefina, Rosa, Maria Elena, Marcos, Berta, Francisco and Irma;
in-laws, Ramiro Martinez, Arturo Sermeño and Maria Vargas, Candelario, Amelia, Francisco and Emma Martinez.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Silva Martinez; mother, Maria Aguilera Zavala; brother, Jose Torres.
