BRASSEUR, Shirley May - Of Grand Blanc, age 93, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial to follow in Crestwood Cemetery.
Visitation 4 p .m. – 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and the American Cancer Society.
Shirley was born in Flint, Michigan on May 20, 1929, the daughter of the late Manson and Gladys (Bebee) Atkins. On May 4, 1946, she married Francis Brasseur in Flint and he preceded her in death in 2000. Shirley was a retail clerk for Kmart for 10 years among other things. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, crafting, going to amusement parks and reading biographies. She loved watching her grandson’s play baseball from youth to varsity. Above all, her home and family were most important.
Surviving are sons, Francis (Joan) of Port Charlotte, FL and David (Jan) of Flint, MI;
daughter, Faith (Jim) McCloskey of Grand Blanc, MI;
son-in-law, Terry White of Indian River, MI
10 grandchildren;
20 great-grandchildren;
7 great-great-grandchildren;
brother, Maynard (Nell);
and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon White in 2015 and sister, Irene Niver.
