Raymond Hewitt, a proud veteran of the US Army passed away on April 1, 2022 at 93 years old. He was surrounded with love by his beloved wife of 43 years, Naomi Hewitt. Funeral service will be held 12 noon, Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI. Family will receive visitors from 11 am until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Pastor Tom Mattiuzzo officiating. Naomi and Ray had a special bond and wonderful marriage. Naomi was Raymond's primary care taker always by his side.
Ray was an avid fisherman, his favorite place to fish was on Davison Lake in Ortonville, Michigan where he and Naomi lived over 41 years. They made wonderful friendships with neighbors on Anglers Drive. When he was not fishing or working, he spent time with Naomi enjoying their beautiful property, bird watching, and playing with his grandchildren in the yard where he taught many how to fish. He loved a good joke and loved to bring a smile to faces of everyone he met. Ray was never a stranger and loved to chat with everyone. He was employed by General Motors for over 46.4 years.
Raymond is survived by his wife Naomi Hewitt, his children Steve Hewitt (June), Lorie Jordan, Rebecca Hewitt, Jay Hewitt, Anna (Jay) Atkerson, Norma (Eddie) Bock, Regina (Ron) Magolski, and daughter-in-law Darlene Carson, 19 grand children, 31 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, son Gordan Carson, daughter Sharon Carson, daughter-in-law Carol Hewitt, 3 grandchildren John Carson, Ryan Murany and Ashton Hewitt, one great grandchild Alleigh Jordan and his 4 siblings Leighton, Margie, Joyce and Leona
