SIMPSON, Darren Shawn - age 47, of Flint, passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2022. Darren was born May 4, 1975 in Fayetteville, NC, the son of Fred E. Simpson and Thomasine T. Wortham (formerly Simpson). He attended Grand Blanc schools for many years but was a 1993 graduate of Carman Ainsworth High School where he played on the varsity football team. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and loyal Wolverine. Darren married his loving wife Kathleen S. Knight on February 9, 2013. Darren was a family man and cherished his Saturday daddy daughter breakfast dates with Charli at the Farmer's Market and treasured his numerous father-son times with Miles. He was a Senior Account Manager with Actalent Services-Automotive Engineering and loved his work. He was passionate about life and loved God, people, community service, family and friends. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ennis Center for Children in Flint. Darren was a huge University of Michigan sports fan (Go Blue) and golfed at every single opportunity he could squeeze in. Darren had an uncanny ability of turning strangers to friends and friends to family. He loved fiercely and deeply and had a unique way of greeting everyone, so they felt special. Darren had the biggest, most caring heart and will be greatly missed by the entire community, especially family and close friends. Surviving are: wife, Katie; son, Miles; daughter, Charli; parents, Thomasine and Woody Wortham, Fred and Thelma Laraine Simpson; siblings, brothers Tracy Simpson and Yohanes Wortham and sister Ticheta Wortham and God-sister, LaShanda Osborn, and; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Shirley A. Thornton, Essie L. Simpson, Arnett Simpson, Hubert Wortham, Sr., Jessie M. Wortham; best friend, Brad (Lito) Edgecombe; and brother-in-law, Patrick Knight. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday, July 29, 2022 at CenterPoint Church, 1225 S. Center Road, Burton, MI. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday, 7/28/22 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel,?8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI and from 10 AM - 11 AM Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ennis Center for Children, 129 E 3rd St, Flint, MI 48502 (www.enniscenter.org). Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
