MAITLAND, Daniel- of Montrose, age 76, died Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at his residence. Funeral service will be held 1PM Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 1PM until 7PM and Tuesday from 11AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society.
Daniel was born March 8, 1946, in Flint, to the late Frank and Cloe (Smith) Maitland. He attended Montrose Community Schools and worked as a truck driver for General Motors for 30 years before retiring in 1989. In 1984, Daniel met his best friend and love of his life, Tonia Graham. On January 29, 1986, he and Tonia were married in Mt. Morris and together they shared 36 years of marriage. Daniel was a simple man who enjoyed being outdoors golfing and going on road trips with his wife to Oscoda where they would go boating. He liked to attend car shows from time to time, his favorite car being a 1962 Bel Air. Above all, Daniel was an amazing man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Daniel is forever loved by his wife, Tonia Maitland; Children: Daniel Warren Maitland and Kelly Jean Ling; Nieces: Dana Dakin, Lisa Sujak, and Ann Crow; Nephew, Martin Vernon Dakin, Tommy Maitland; Beloved furry companions: Bella and Bubba; Many cousins, extended family, and wonderful friends. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Cloe; Brother, Tom Maitland; Sister, Beverly Shanks.
