Jack Anthony Tosto, aka "WD8JCN", age 78, of Flushing, Michigan, passed peacefully at home on April 13, 2022 surrounded by family.
Jack was born in Flint, Michigan on August 24, 1943. Jack is the son of Albert and Maxine (Ashley) Tosto, who preceded him in death. Jack grew up on Flint Park Boulevard. After graduating from Flint Northern High School in 1961, Jack went to work at the Chevrolet V8 Engine Plant where he would work for 35 years. He was a proud member of UAW Local 659. He married Brenda Swanson with whom he had four children. In later years, he would marry Elaine Ransom. Jack and Elaine lived on Lake Huron in Au Gres, Michigan. Jack shared his final years with his special love, Patricia Vanalstine.
He had a lifelong passion for amateur radio and aviation. His ham radio call sign was WD8JCN. He enjoyed casinos and dining out. Jack was always very proud of his Italian heritage. His grandparents, Cosimo and Rosaria Tosto, immigrated to the United States from Erice, Sicily.
Jack is survived by his sister, Myra Jones of McMinnville, Tennessee; his children: Marcia Ransom of Flushing, John (Mary) Tosto of Flint, Eric (Tina) Tosto of Clio, Jennifer Tosto of Flint; his partner Patricia; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Albert and Maxine; sister, Rosaria Schaaf; and brother, Albert “Sonny” Tosto.
Family will greet guests from 10:30 am until time of memorial service at 11:00 in Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing Michigan.
The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Flint River Watershed Coalition.
