HALEY, John Joseph III – The Legend of Flint, age 61, passed away February 3, 2022, at Hurley Medical Center. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
John was born in Flint, MI on August 27, 1960, son of the late John J. Jr. and Barbra (Halloran) Haley. John graduated from Flint Holy Rosary and was a player on the 1977 State Championship football team. He attended Western Michigan University for engineering and was on the football team for 3 years. John worked at U of M Flint for 30+ years. He was a member of the Flint Power and Sail Squadron as he was an avid boater. John served as commander for 2 terms and held executive positions through the years. Hunting and fishing were dear to him.
John is survived by his brother, Michael (Lynnette) Haley; sister, Claudia Anne Haley; uncle, Jerome (Elaine) Haley; cousins, Schlager, Shaheen, Haley and Halloran families; nephews, Shane and Hunter Haley; niece, Hanna Haley; step-nephews, Jordan (Debra) Gerwolds and Greg (Shawna) Gerwolds and families. John was preceded in death by his sister, Blanche (Haley) Papke.
