Contributions in her memory may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
Sofia was born on December 9, 1936, in Kalamata, Greece, to the late Ioannis and Adrianna (Konstadakopoulou) Christopoulos. On June 7, 1959, she married the love of her life, George Margaritis, and together they shared 60 beautiful years of marriage.
In 1968, Sofia and George courageously immigrated to Flint, Michigan with their two young sons, embracing the promise of a new life filled with opportunity. Their decision, born from love and hope, meant leaving behind their beloved homeland and family in Greece — a profound sacrifice made in pursuit of a better future for their children. Sofia worked for twenty years at Capitol Coney Island, where her tireless dedication, gifted hands in the kitchen, and generous heart made her beloved by coworkers and customers alike. Her passion for Greek cuisine, especially her lovingly prepared delicacies, was a true gift to her family, friends, and neighbors.
Her garden reflected her soul — generous, rooted, and always blooming. A proud daughter of Greece, she carried its spirit into every corner of her American life — through her hospitality, her joy in music and dance, and her steadfast devotion to family.
A woman of unwavering faith, radiant kindness, and gentle resolve, Sofia was a devoted and lifelong member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, where she found strength, community, and spiritual purpose. Her Orthodox faith was the cornerstone of her life — guiding her words, shaping her deeds, and sustaining her through every season.
She lived not for herself, but for the happiness of those she loved. Family was Sofia’s greatest pride and joy. She was deeply involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her unwavering devotion and loving presence will be forever remembered.
Sofia is survived by her children:
• Bill and wife Catherine Margaritis of Tennessee
• John and wife Vicki Margaritis of Grand Blanc
Grandchildren:
• Angela Margaritis-Smith and husband Ethan Smith of Grand Blanc
• Sophia Margaritis-Norman and husband Drake Norman of Tennessee
• George Margaritis of Grand Blanc
• Alexis Margaritis, Winston Margaritis of Tennessee

Great-grandchildren:

• Charlotte Norman and Sophia Norman of Memphis
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, her parents, Ioannis and Adrianna, and her infant grandson, Baby Boy Margaritis.
In every act of kindness, in every family gathering, her spirit will live on. Sofia’s legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to shine in the lives she touched. May her memory be eternal.
