HEMINGWAY, Gloria May (Nowlin) – of Columbiaville, MI, formerly of Flint Township, MI, age 87, passed into Glory on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on a later date.
Gloria was born in Roscommon, MI on October 25, 1935, daughter of the late Donald and Ella May (Durrant) Nowlin. She married Lawrence Hemingway on May 12, 1956 in Flint, MI. Gloria worked as a Comptometer operator at AC Spark Plug, scoring the highest on the aptitude test. She toured the country as a soloist with the AC Spark Plug Band and Choir and was a homemaker who loved to garden, can and sew. Gloria enjoyed her winters in North Ft. Myers, FL and spending time during summers in West Branch at the cottage, making memories with family and friends. She was a longtime member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir and serving as a deaconess.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Lawrence Hemingway; 3 children, Lori (Joe) Schaffer, Todd (Wendy) Hemingway and Lynn (Rob) Mosher; 8 grandchildren and spouses; 6 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cyndi Hemingway; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ella Nowlin; son, Mark David Hemingway; grandson, Joshua David Hemingway; great-granddaughter, Alice Elaine Amaya; 2 brothers, Jack Nowlin and Dean Nowlin.
