THOMAS, Carol Glynn – of Burton, MI, age 84, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Crestwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Old News Boys of Flint, 6255 Taylor Drive, Flint. MI 48507 or Shriners Hospital for Children.
Carol was born in Whitwell, TN on September 4, 1939, daughter of the late Harroll and Ethel (Dixon) Layne. She married George Thomas on September 21, 1957 in Flint, MI. He preceded her in death in 2007. Carol was a lifelong real estate agent. She loved bingo and card club. Carol was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Stars #299. She was a friend, mom, and grandma to everyone. Carol was the first, First Lady of Burton, MI.
Carol is survived by her children, Debora (Tony) Newton and George (Carol) Thomas Jr.; grandchildren, Shaun (Hallie) Newton, Amber Shaw, Paul (Brittney) Thomas and Wyatt (Maddie) Thomas; 5 great grandchildren, Annecy, Charlotte, Lincoln, Carter and Ethan; sisters, Wilma Faye Layne and Martha Layne, brother MacArthur (Judy) Layne; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by daughter, Kimberly Pavlica; siblings, Winfred Layne, Sarah Maples and Ronnie Layne.
