Laura Marie Legant, 54, of Holly, Michigan passed on to be with Jesus on Sunday,
January 22nd 2023 with her family present after an 18 month battle with breast
cancer.
Laura was born on August 1st, 1968 in Maine. She was the middle child of a family of
5, with 2 older sisters and 2 younger brothers. The family moved to Michigan, where
she graduated from Fenton High School in 1986. She married the love of her life,
Steve Legant, on August 20th 1988. Their adventures started right away by moving
across the country to Carson City, Nevada. While there, they welcomed 3 sons into
their family. She raised and mushed huskies and went on endless travels.
Laura was a teacher for 24 years and eventually went on to complete her doctorate in
education. But Dr. Legant was only one of many titles she carried. After moving back
to Michigan in 2003, the family settled in Holly. She and Steve welcomed their
daughter in 2005. She continued to teach, owned a craft store downtown, directed and
starred in many different theatrical shows, and owned a small fiber farm with goats,
alpacas, rabbits, and chickens.
She became a grandmother to 7 grandchildren and loved them fiercely.
Laura was an exceptionally talented musician, artist, and animal lover. She traveled to
all 50 states and many countries with her daughter, Rose. She loved Disney and
adventure and loved planning trips with her family. Since childhood, Laura has been
full of life and a force of nature. Laura’s positivity shined brightest. She persevered
and continued to have adventures right up until the end. She was an inspiration to all
and successfully left behind a legacy.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Legant, children, Kyle (Beth), Austin, Josh
(Merissa), and Rose, her mother, Karen Craner, her grandchildren, Blake, Benaiah,
Berkley, Baylor, Killian, Brooks, and Levi, her siblings, Carla (Paul) Vizzaccaro,
Jason (Danielle) Craner, and Pete (Evangeline) Craner, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Art Craner, and sister, Alicia Hammond.
The family asks that you please not purchase flowers. If you would like to contribute
in some way, please consider making a donation to her GoFundMe to help cover
funeral and medical expenses. Anything left over will be donated to Cancer research.
