MANUTES, George John - Of Estero, Florida, age 94, passed Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Fort Myers, Florida.
Funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 2245 East Baldwin Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Visitation 4-8pm Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Parastas Service will be held 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
George was born in Flint, Michigan on March 25, 1927 and was the son of John and Mary Maniatakos Manutes. He married Ruby Burt in 1950 and she preceded him in death on October 18, 1994. George married Dorcus Segelmann on June 19, 2000. George grew up in Flint, Michigan the son of Greek immigrants. During World War II, he joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. Afterwards he finished and graduated from Flint Central High School and Central Michigan University. For many years George worked in industrial supply sales until 1972 when he built and operated the Cobblestone Lounge. He was elected and served on the Mundy Township Board of Review. George was also active in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church for many years. After selling the lounge, he and Ruby retired to Tawas, Michigan and Estero, Florida until recently making Estero his permanent home. George especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, cards and shuffle board. He was fun loving, loved people and was always quick with a joke.
Surviving are four children, John and wife Judi of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Laura Wickham of Estero Florida, Lynelle and husband Joe Shaker of Flint, Michigan and James “Jim” and wife Kathy of Black Oak, Arkansas;
5 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn and brothers, James (Jim), Louis and infant Peter.
