Charles H. Nelson Jr. age 92 of Durand, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Vibrant Life Senior Living of Durand. A memorial service will be 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. Officiating will be David Fiebernitz. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
Charles Henry Nelson Jr. was born February 6, 1930 in Durand, son of Charles and Ruth (Finney) Nelson Sr. After graduating from Durand High School he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 30, 1960 Charles married Jane Ferris. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion and the Teamsters Union. Charles enjoyed photography, traveling, gardening, yard work, and spending time with his family. In 1992 he retired from Tom Ryan's Distribution after 35 years of service as a Master Diesel Mechanic.
Charles is survived by his children, John (Stephanie) Nelson, Mark (Teresa) Nelson, and Michelle (Stephen) Koons; grandchildren, Heidi, Jamie, Kera, Michael, Cameron, and Heather; great grandchildren, Sierra, Jaxon, Jane, and Drew; and great great granddaughter, Juliette. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Nelson; son, Steven Nelson; and sister, Eula Jean (Arthur) Ellsworth.
