BERKEY, Roberta “Robin” (Nyman) – of Flint, MI, age 66, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Wednesday, December 14, 2022 and 12-1 PM Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. A Memorial Service, conducted under the auspices of the Davison VFW Post 4087 Auxiliary, will be held 7 PM Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Davison VFW Post 4087, Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in Robin’s memory.
Robin was born in Flint, MI on June 26, 1956, daughter of the late Donald and Yvonne “Bonnie” (Sliger) Nyman. She married Brian Berkey on February 5, 1977. Robin retired from Flint Community Schools as a teacher in 2015 after 33 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Davison VFW Post 4087 Auxiliary and actively volunteered at local Senior Centers in Genesee County. Robin enjoyed arts and crafts, traveling with loved ones, playing cards with her friends, gardening and spending time with her family.
Robin is survived by her husband, Brian Berkey; 2 children, Jarrod Berkey and Shannon (Kevin) Brown; 3 grandchildren, Emmalyn Brown, Colin Brown and Nathan Brown; sister, Kimberly Spillers; brother-in-law, James Gates; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Yvonne “Bonnie” Nyman; sister, Tamara Gates; nephew, Anthony James Ireland and brother-in-law, Rod Spillers.
