Brooks, Richard L. of Flushing, age 74, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2014, at Rossell Funeral Home. Chaplain Todd Regester will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until the time of the service, Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice or the Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute.
Richard was born in Flint, Michigan on August 30, 1939, the son of Elijah and Rose (Webb) Brooks. He married Christine Sakowski on January 4, 1974 in Flint. Richard was employed by General Motors and retired after 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and had a love of trains. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Richard is survived by his wife of 40 years, Christine; children, David and wife Sue Brooks, Paul and wife Jodie Brooks, Jarrad and wife Heather Brooks, Kristen and husband Brian Crumm; eight grandchildren, Lindsay, Kevin, Hunter, Chloe, Alex, Colin, Jack, Hudson; sister, Barbara Cojeen; brother, Jay and wife Delores Brooks and several nieces and nephews. |
