STIMAC, Joseph John III – of Burton, age 65, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Burial will be in Tanner Cemetery, Belsay Rd, Flint. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Friday, April 14, 2023, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Joseph was born in Flint, Michigan on September 13, 1957, son of the late Joseph and Germaine (LaVoie) Stimac. He graduated from Holy Rosary-Flint High School in 1975 and married Vickie Baker in 1980 and raised three children together. Joseph was a lifetime member of the Croatian Fraternal Union LO561, Lodge 529.
Joe began his work career at General Motors Corporation, AC Spark Plug facility on Davison Road Flint, MI in 1976. He then went on to become a skilled trades model maker 1982, and after 43 years of service retired from General Motors Corporation on May 1, 2022. Joe belonged to the Local UAW 651 Union his entire career with General Motors Corporation, serving as Apprentice Coordinator, Quality Assurance Coordinator, Ergonomics Representative, representing his fellow UAW members.
One of Joe’s greatest memories was leading the Ice Mountain Madness to the Pee Wee “B” State Hockey Championship during the 1998-1999 season. Thank you, Coach Stimac! Joe’s favorite vacation spot was Cancun, Mexico. Many vacations were spent with extended family on the beach enjoying the ocean. His favorite place was on the beach or the golf course.
Joe worked tirelessly and faithfully to support his family. He focused on providing his children with the best life possible without worrying about himself. Joe had a passion for golf and recorded two hole-in-ones on hole number three at IMA Brookwood Golf Course, Burton, MI. Joe was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family and friends, that loved him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew. Joe had an infectious personality and loved to talk.
Joe, the most loving and devoted father, is survived by his son Christopher Toby Mitchell, daughter Tara Stimac and son Joey (Darby) Stimac and their mother, Vickie Stimac. His sisters and brothers; Deborah Stimac, Lori (Daryl) Saultman, David (DeeLinda) Stimac, Michael Stimac, Matthew (Tiffany) Stimac, and dearest sister Sarah Stimac. Many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and beloved relatives from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Special recognition to his dear friends; Jack and Terri Schrauben, Smokey and Kim Meinecke, Dan and Blanca Miglin, and Wayne and Gretchen Schafer. His grand puppies; Daphne, Ollie, Tucker and his sweet Brooksie, will miss their Papa.
Joe was preceded in death by his Mother Germaine Ann Stimac, Father Joseph Paul Stimac, Sister Mimi (Germaine) Stimac and beloved dog, Toro.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made towards a dedication in honor of the memory of Joe Stimac III at the IMA Brookwood Golf Course.
